Salary Range: $31.74 - $37.35 /hour
This position requires training on-site for at least one year; remote training is not an option
The Health Records Technician - (Coder) works independently and is responsible for performing detailed clinical analysis of inpatient, same day surgery and ambulatory (National Ambulatory Care Reporting System) health records using the International Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Canada (ICD-10-CA) and the Canadian Classification of Health Interventions (CCI) diagnostic and intervention codes to facilitate resource utilization, statistics, clinical research, and related audits.
Essential Qualifications
- Health Information Management Diploma
- Certified member with the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA)
- Minimum three years recent related job experience
- Knowledge of privacy and related legislation as it applies to Health Information Management
- Demonstrated computer skills with computerized patient information systems such as Cerner, 3M Coding and Abstracting, database software, Outlook, Inter/Intranet as well as intermediate level of knowledge in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Detail oriented and demonstrated accuracy with the work involved
- Ability to handle highly confidential information
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills along with a strong customer focus
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team
Preferred Qualifications- Recent Coding experience including experience with UCC, day surgery and inpatient coding
- Demonstrated advance skills with 3M Codefinder (ICD 10 CA, CCI
- Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
