Located at the Parkwood Institute (Lawson Research Institute) in London, Ontario, the MacDonald Franklin Operational Stress Injury Research Centre conducts innovative research in military and Veteran mental health. The Centre’s primary mission is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Veterans with operational stress injuries through innovative, adaptive, and impactful research.
The MacDonald Franklin OSI Research Centre is dedicated to research excellence, education, and knowledge mobilization to advance mental health care for those affected by operational stress injuries. Through collaborative and innovative research, we conduct specialized, evidence-based translational studies that improve treatment outcomes and enhance the wellbeing of military personnel, Veterans, and public safety personnel.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. J Don Richardson in the role of the “Research Assistant 1”. The MacDonald Franklin Operational Stress Injury Research Centre is inviting applications for a Research Assistant position. This position is a temporary full-time (37.5 hours/week) 12-month contract with the possibility of renewal. While this position is based in London, Ontario, the successful applicant can optionally provide research services remotely during the 12-month contract.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of MacDonald Franklin Operational Stress Injury Research Centre Scientific Director and operationally, under the Associate Scientific Director, to support new and ongoing research projects.
Successful candidates will be responsible for a broad range of day-to-day research activities related to observational, experimental, and secondary research.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with preparation and submission of ethics applications and amendments.
• Assist with consenting participants and conducting primary data collection.
• Conduct semi-structured qualitative interviews with research participants.
• Maintain accurate study records and documentation.
• Assist with the analysis of qualitative data.
• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to support ongoing research projects and initiatives.
• Support the preparation of study updates, summaries, and reports.
• Participate and assist knowledge translation activities, including academic conferences and presentations.
The incumbent will maintain certification required by Lawson Health Research Institute, SJHC and study-specific requirements.
