This is a temporary full-time position that is anticipated to extend until approximately July 31, 2027, and is subject to the availability of work.
The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Michael Borrie in the role of the "Research Associate 1". This position will assist the Division of Geriatric Medicine.
Responsibilities may include providing research project oversight under direction of the Principal Investigator; supporting the development of research proposals, grant applications, REB submissions, standard operation procedures (SOPs), protocols and regulatory activities; supporting the literature review process and analysis; and academic report writing and reporting.
This is a 5 day (37.5 hours) per week position.
Essential Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a medical or health sciences discipline or equivalent education and experience required
• 2 years of related experience required
• Experience in preparing research ethics applications and study-start up activities
• Experience in conducting research projects from initiation to publication required
• Experience working with electronic data capturing systems ex. REDCap
• Knowledge of statistical analysis software
• Demonstrated scientific writing skills; manuscripts, protocols, proposals and grant applications
• Strong knowledge of research policies and procedures
• Knowledge of research methodology
• Working knowledge of research regulatory and REB requirements
• Knowledge of regional and internal funding opportunities
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and balance multiple projects to meet project deadlines
• Demonstrated excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
• Leadership, training, and mentoring skills
Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with LHRI policies and procedures an asset
The incumbent will maintain certification in:
CPR training
WHMS training
Shipping of Dangerous Goods training
Immunization Requirements:
• Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
• Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
