Salary Range: $54.71 - $64.38 /hour

An exciting opportunity exists to work in a collaborative inter-professional environment delivering speech language pathology services to patients who have had a stroke or diagnosed with other neurological conditions participating in a specialized rehabilitation program.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual who wants to be on a team of rehabilitation practitioners who are considered leaders in the delivery of stroke/neurological rehabilitation care while actively improving the outcomes of the patients we serve and the rehab care delivery system as a whole.

Using the principles of patient centered care, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing the full scope of speech language pathology services. A focus on swallowing disorders as well as attaining optimal communication and supported conversation abilities that relate to fostering independence in activities of daily living for the patient are key elements of the role.

It is understood that current scheduling arrangements are subject to change as determined by the Employer.



Essential Qualifications

  • Valid registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Experience with dysphagia and demonstrated knowledge and practice of swallow studies
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative manner with an interdisciplinary team
  • Sound understanding of the role of a variety of rehabilitation professionals and rehabilitation principles
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving and innovation skills
  • Working knowledge and experience with theories and principles of guiding adult learning and patient self-management approaches
  • Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative
  • Familiarity with outcome measurement related to clinical practice, with the ability to measure and evaluate practice change outcomes
  • Experience with providing rehabilitation in cognitive communication and aphasia management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • Clinical expertise and experience in stroke rehabilitation with demonstrated knowledge of current stroke rehabilitation best practice swallowing guidelines
  • Experience in hospital service delivery
  • Aphasia Institute Training- supported Conversation for Adults with Aphasia

As an employee of St. Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
