The Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk Consultant reports to the Manager, Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk under the Director, Patient Relations, Security Services and Chief Privacy and Risk Officer for St. Joseph's.
The Consultant will support hospital's research portfolio and should possess demonstrated experience in reviewing, negotiating, and managing research contracts. This includes familiarity with research agreements, collaboration contracts, and compliance with research funding requirements. Experience working directly with research teams to ensure contract terms support ethical standards, privacy protection, and institutional compliance is highly valued. The ideal candidate will also have a background in supporting research initiatives and navigating the unique contractual and regulatory landscape of academic research hospitals.
The Consultant will ensure that research contracts adhere to institutional policies and relevant legislation, and that privacy and risk considerations are thoroughly addressed throughout the research lifecycle.
The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in Ontario hospital-related legislation, including applicable provincial and federal statutory and regulatory requirements. This role requires deep knowledge of privacy legislation, including health information protection obligations, and the ability to apply these requirements to complex contractual arrangements.
The Consultant should also have a keen understanding and experience in reviewing technologies as part of the research approval process and providing privacy and risk advice to support the organization's legislative compliance and mitigate risk.
As a member of the Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk team, the Consultant will also provide support for Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk initiatives as required.
