Salary Range: $26.59 - $33.24 /hour

Temporary full time position until approximately, May 18, 2027, with potential for renewal, subject to the availability of work.

The successful candidate will work under the direction of Dr. Berberich in the role of Research Assistant 1 and will assist the Division of Endocrinology & Metabolism in support of clinical research studies in lipids, diabetes and endocrinology at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Responsibilities may include the organization, administration and coordination of assigned clinical research tasks, assisting with patient screening, recruitment of study participants, scheduling visits, conducting study participant interviews and/or assessments, data entry and analysis, literature review and providing administrative support to the research team.



Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field, however equivalent qualification/ work experience will be considered.
  • Requires excellent interpersonal, supervisory and planning skills to work effectively in a high pressure environment and have the ability to deal with confidential matters
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team
  • Adaptable, flexible and resourceful.
  • Good judgement, initiative, tact and professional attitude in the workplace
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer skills that include Microsoft Office and Office 365
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in an academic/research environment
  • Familiarity with LRI policies and procedures an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work in teams, e.g. including faculty, staff, students and residents.
  • Training in ICH/GCP guidelines
  • Familiarity with Lawson Research submissions (ReDA, LORA) and with Western Health Sciences Research Ethics Board (WREM) submissions is an asset
  • Familiarity with REDCap is an asset
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
