Salary Range: $45.96 - $54.06 /hour
The Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk Consultant reports to the Manager, Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk under the Director, Patient Relations, Security Services and Chief Privacy and Risk Officer for St. Joseph's.
The Consultant should have strong expertise in contract review to support healthcare operations within an academic hospital environment. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert in Ontario hospital-related legislation, including applicable provincial and federal statutory and regulatory requirements. This role requires deep knowledge of privacy legislation, including health information protection obligations, and the ability to apply these requirements to complex contractual arrangements. The Consultant will review, draft, and advise on contracts to identify and mitigate legal, financial, and operational risks. A strong understanding of risk mitigation strategies, insurance coverage, liability exposure, and indemnity provisions is essential. Experience working within hospitals or research institutions would be beneficial.
The Consultant should also have a keen understanding and experience in reviewing technologies and research projects and providing privacy and risk advice to support the organization's legislative compliance and mitigate risk.
As a member of the Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk team, the Consultant will also provide support for Patient Relations, Privacy and Risk initiatives as required.
Essential Qualifications
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Understanding of hospital legislation including PHIPA, FIPPA, QCIPA, PHA
- Privacy certification through IAPP or willingness to obtain certification within 2 years
- Experience in the Information Technology (IT) industry is an asset
- Experience in contract review is an asset
- Experience in clinical research is an asset
- 3- 5 year's experience with solid understanding of health care system/legislation
- University degree (willing to consider applicants with combination of experience and education)
- Good problem-solving skills

- Good computer skills with the ability to learn new programs
- Excellent critical thinking skills
- Ability to handle stressful situations
- Excellent multi-tasker
- Conflict resolution/mediation experience
- Travel within the catchment area is required with ability to be flexible and travel between sites, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications- Education in risk management
- Previous experience in a hospital setting

Immunization Requirements- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
