Salary Range: $44.95 - $52.87 /hour
St. Joseph's Health Care London's Mental Health Care Program's Peer Support Program Specialist functions to support the development, implementation and sustainability of a peer support program inclusive of coordination of peer led/clinician supported education, peer supported system navigation and the creation of a resource hub to empower recipients of care and care givers in their care and recovery from the impact of a severe, persistent mental illness. The role requires liaising with internal partners inclusive of recipients of care and care givers, clinical teams; as well as care partner(s), council(s), and external community partners to be successful in the provision of all elements of the model.
An important outcome of this role in using best evidence practice of patient and family centred care, is to amplify and embed the voices of people with lived experience and empower people and those who support them to be active participants in their care, thereby enhancing recovery outcomes. The program is intended to support those who are new service recipients and those existing who may choose to become peer supporters as part of their recovery journey.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a health related discipline
- 3 years' experience in a similar role, community or residential/LTC, hospital
- Volunteer management experience
- Related mental health experience in a community or hospital setting
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Knowledge of and sensitivity towards mental health
- Knowledge of mental health systems
- Knowledge of educational principles for adults Change management skills
- Problem solving skills
- Strong communication and facilitation skills both verbal, written and presentation
- Collaborative skills in working with diverse groups
- Project management/ Quality Improvement Skill
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency in the French Language is an asset
- Peer Supervisor Certificate
- Care Partner Certificate

Immunization Requirements- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
