Salary Range: $38.80 - $39.19 /hour

St. Joseph's Hospital continues to expand its role in the treatment of complex medical and chronic disease, illness prevention, research and education. Our ambulatory medicine teams specialize in the treatment of complex medical and chronic disease conditions with the goal of assisting individuals to reach optimal health and well-being. Teams work together to provide patients with comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, disease prevention and management strategies and follow up care.
The General Outpatients team supports the clinical work of various ambulatory medicine teams including: Respirology and COPD, General Internal Medicine, and Cardiology. The role of the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is to work closely with the medical team to provide patient care and clinical support with responsibilities such as, completing a comprehensive best possible medication history, nursing assessment, supporting clinic flow, assisting with procedures, and phlebotomy.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Proficiency and experience in pharmacology and medication administration
- Valid CPR certificate
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated competence in phlebotomy and IV initiation and administration
- Successful completion of a nursing competency test
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload
- Demonstrated excellence in patient teaching
- Demonstrated competence in assessment, evaluation and care planning skills
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- Minimum one year recent ambulatory care clinical experience
- Recent experience in assisting with invasive procedures
- Previous knowledge and experience with Cerner and Powerchart
- Recent experience in and/or demonstrated knowledge of chronic disease management
- Recent medical/surgical experience within the last three years

Immunization Requirements- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
