Salary Range: $76.31 - $89.74 /hour


St. Joseph's Hospital is a unique hospital specializing in minimally invasive same day and short stay inpatient surgery with a high-volume Urgent Care Centre, Endoscopy Unit and outpatient medical programs. Approximately 22,000 surgical procedures are performed per year at St. Joseph's, with most patients going home the same day as their procedure. A small inpatient surgical unit is in place for those patients who require a short hospital stay. Our primary surgical programs include: The Ivey Eye Institute, Breast Care Program (breast screening and surgical intervention and reconstructive plastic surgery), Roth McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Centre (arthroscopic and arthroplasty surgery and hand therapy), urology (laser and minimally invasive robotic surgery), otolaryngology head & neck and facial plastic surgery, gynecologic surgery and colposcopy, dental and general surgery. The operating room is comprised of 10 operating rooms and a lithotripsy suite.

Our state-of-the art operating rooms are supported by expert teams ensuring effective pre-screening, admission, post-surgery care and, when necessary, inpatient care. Our Central Processing unit is linked directly to the operating room and also serves the cataract suite, endoscopy and other procedural areas.
The portfolio of the Director Perioperative Services includes the following:

Pre-surgical screening unit, admitting department, the operating room, post anesthetic care unit and step-up unit, surgical day care unit, inpatient surgical unit, surgical clinical business systems and central processing.

As Director, Perioperative Services, you are patient focused and committed to safety and quality across the patient care journey. You are an experienced leader, skilled at managing large capital and operating budgets, supply, equipment and service contracts and co-leading and supporting surgical governance committees. You provide oversight in relation to access to surgical care, transitions of care from pre surgery to post surgery and follow up care. You have a strong record of establishing effective relationships with care partners, staff, physicians, colleagues, and senior leaders as well as external partners in care and academia locally, regionally and provincially. You possess the personal attributes and values that effectively role models a faith based and catholic based mission of caring to our patients, families and our staff.



Essential Qualifications

  • Master`s degree in related health or health administration or business field
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive clinical leadership or managerial leadership experience
  • Management experience in perioperative or surgical care will be exemplified through professional accomplishments.
  • Demonstrated understanding of clinical care and the role of a leader in a teaching hospital
  • Registration with a Regulated Health Professional College in Ontario
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and Medical Device Industry Regulations and Standards (ISO Standards)
  • Ability and commitment to act as a supervisor under OHSA
  • Business management skills (including strategic, operational, capital and facilities planning, contract negotiation and management, risk assessment and analytics)
  • People management skills including team building, negotiation, talent management, skills in consensus-building, and conflict resolution
  • Participatory and values-based leadership and a proven track record for developing and sustaining healthy work environments, effective teams, and a performance driven culture that motivates performance excellence
  • Excellent Interpersonal communication and presence, facilitation, consultation, change management, problem-solving as well as report writing and presentation skills
  • A track record for creating a quality and safety culture and means for monitoring and communicating results that are meaningful to team members and inspire continuous improvement
  • Skill in innovation to your daily management practice
  • Skill in working in a milieu that includes political and bureaucratic arms of government, other health care agencies, patient interest groups and non-governmental organizations
  • Demonstrated skills and comfort in working within a medical / administrative leader model
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset

  • St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St. Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
