Salary Range: $30.82 - $36.26 /hour
This is an exciting opportunity for a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join a dynamic team at Prescription Shop 1 at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Prescription Shop 1 is a community, retail pharmacy that provides service to patients visiting ambulatory clinics at St. Joseph's Hospital, residents at Mount Hope Centre of Long-Term Care, hospital staff, and the general public. As a Registered Pharmacy Technician, you will require excellent organizational and communication skills to become an integral part of this team, which focuses on providing outstanding customer service and patient care. To be successful, you must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and thrive on collaborating with others while working to full scope of practice and striving for continuous improvement.
Our hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, closed weekends, evenings, and all statutory holidays. Please note that on-call service may be a requirement of this role.
In addition to the essential qualifications listed below, experience with long term care is an important asset.
Essential Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- College Diploma in Pharmacy Technician
- 2 years pharmacy experience preferred
- Recent Pharmacy experience in a hospital or retail environment
- Exceptional attention to detail to accurately complete and check all technical aspects of a prescription within scope of practice
- Knowledge of mathematical calculations required for the preparation, compounding, and dispensing of medications
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Demonstrated skills in inventory control and management systems
- Proficiency with pharmacy dispensing software applications and related technologies
- Demonstrated skills in repackaging and labeling products safely and accurately
- Knowledge of general chemical and physical properties and storage requirements of drugs handled in the preparation, compounding and dispensing of prescriptions
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Pharmaceutical and medical terminology, abbreviations and symbols commonly used in the prescribing and dispensing of medications
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency in French would be an asset
Teaching and Research- St Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St. Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
Immunization Requirements- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella, varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, COVID-19 and influenza.
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
