Salary Range: $36.67 - $37.05 /hour


It is understood that the hours of work reflect the current scheduling arrangements and are subject to change as determined by the Employer. Flexibility is required to cover all shifts including weekends and statutory holidays.

The Palliative Care Unit is comprised of 18 beds and is part of the Complex Care Program. The Unit provides pain and symptom management and end of life care for patients with a life-limiting illness. Our interdisciplinary team provides a holistic and collaborative approach to care, focusing on the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of our patients. Our ultimate goal is to earn the complete confidence of our patients and their families by providing exceptional care that meets their individualized care needs. Essential Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Valid registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Proficiency and experience in pharmacology and medication administration
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals Palliative Care course or ability to successfully complete within 12 months
  • Registered to attend the CAPCE course or ability to successfully complete within 24 months
  • Successful completion of a nursing competency test
  • Experience and knowledge of the nursing care needs of the palliative care patient
  • Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and be able to work as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated flexibility and organizational skills
  • Superior communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to apply and document the nursing process
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to apply effective body mechanics and meet the physical demands of the position
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • CAPCE certification
Teaching and Research
  • St Josephs Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St Josephs you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series/boosters, XBB or KP.2) OR one dose of KP.2 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
