Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care - St. Thomas, ON
Full Time
Salary Range: $40.36 - $56.30 /hour
Reporting to the forensic program manager, this individual will work with the Southwest Centre for Forensic Mental Health Care (SWC) and St. Leonard's Community Services London (SCSL) to provide occupational therapy services within the community-based programs. This OT will support Clarke Centre, the Forensic Supported Housing Program as well as other community housing programs that support the successful reintegration of forensic patients into the community. Key partnerships will be with the SWC inpatient and outreach teams, forensic transitional case manager and the SCSL clinical team.
Essential Qualifications
- Valid registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
- Experience working in a forensic setting with patients under the jurisdiction of the ORB
- Excellent theoretical knowledge and practical skills in forensic psychiatry and community consultation
- Excellent knowledge and experience in risk assessment and risk mitigation
- Knowledge of, and ability to liaise with and mobilize community resources including housing, vocational and recreational supports/services
- Knowledge, skills, and recent experience providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of individuals with serious mental illness
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation and the practices of case management
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated ability in conflict resolution and crisis intervention
- Knowledge of Mental Health and Judicial systems and related legislation
- Knowledge of behavioural assessment and intervention
- Familiarity with standardized risk assessment tools
- Ability to travel across the Southwest Region and work in various settings/environments
- Valid driver's license, adequate insurance and use of vehicle required
- Basic computer knowledge and skill (e.g. MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Ability to foster collegial relationships within the program's interdisciplinary teams
- Ability to foster collegial relationships with community partners
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Commitment to continuous learning and development
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
Preferred Qualifications- Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements- Provide documentation you have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (primary series/boosters, XBB or KP.2) OR one dose of KP.2 vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
