Temporary Full Time
Salary Range: $40.36 - $56.30 /hour


Temporary position anticipated to extend until July 31, 2025, and is subject to the availability of work

The successful candidate will provide a broad range of physiotherapy services to individuals with severe and persistent mental health issues across the continuum. This position functions in an interdisciplinary environment with rich evidence-based practice. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated interest in program development and innovation.



Essential Qualifications

  • Valid registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Minimum 2 years related experience as a Physiotherapist
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Strong time management skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with clients in a positive, caring manner while delivering exceptional client outcomes and restoring function
  • Provide non-pharmacological management of pain
  • Skillful in manual medicine and rehabilitation
  • Expertise in motivating, patients and promoting self-management in the context of mental and physical health issues
  • Exemplify a Patient-focused approach demonstrating compassion for individuals
  • Demonstrated competency and experience in establishing rehabilitation goals and in implementing strategies and protocols for goal attainment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the philosophy of recovery orientated care
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Flexibility in adapting to varying case load needs
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate evidence based research into practice
  • Management of falls and mobility issues in older people and those with developmental disabilities.
  • Expert advice and intervention to address impaired body awareness and reduce dissociation associated with poor mental health
  • Enhance physical health while promoting mental well-being, optimal treatment for people with a mental health condition that is person center with input from the multidisciplinary team which promotes self management
  • Ability to travel within the catchment area
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset
  • Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association and relevant interest groups
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in mental health care
  • Working knowledge and experience with theories and principles of guiding adult learning and patient self-management approaches
  • Knowledge of computer systems (e.g. workload measurement, Cerner, Outlook, Microsoft Office)
  • Demonstrates initiatives with program development/improvement

  • St. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. As an employee of St. Joseph's, you will be expected to engage in role related teaching and research activities in addition to any of your clinical duties
Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series, boosters and/or XBB) OR one dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
