The Lawson Health Research Institute is one of Canada’s largest and most respected hospital-based research institutes. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Dr. Manuel Montero-Odasso, Director of the Gait & Brain Laboratory in the role of Research Coordinator (RC). The RC will work in a vibrant and busy hospital-based laboratory within a multi-disciplinary research team at Parkwood Institute on several research studies (including clinical trials) related to mobility and cognition in older adults.

The main duties will involve managing three ongoing clinical studies and their respective staff to ensure timelines and milestones are being met, tracking budgets and finances, data monitoring and statistical analysis, managing agreements with other institutions, writing papers, preparing presentations, applying to grants and awards, overseeing ethic approvals and amendments, and coordinating meetings between investigators and staff. They will work closely with the Principle Investigator an assist with different lab managing activities. In addition, the successful candidate needs to know (or be willing to be trained on) how to perform cognitive testing and mobility and gait assessments in older adults for the three ongoing clinical studies.

This is a 5 day (37.5 hours) per week position.



Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field
  • Minimum three years’ experience in managing clinical trials
  • Strong understanding of quantitative research principles
  • Demonstrated initiative, strong problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a multi-disciplinary team setting
  • Self-directed, creative, innovative, and detail-oriented
  • Experience in data management, and with software such as Excel and SPSS
Preferred Qualifications
  • SOCRA certified
  • Completion of a Clinical Trials Management program or equivalent
  • Experience working with older adults/and or people with cognitive impairment
  • Knowledge of scientific content related to Alzheimer’s Disease and prevention of dementia
  • Experience in protocol development and grant writing
  • Leadership skills and previous experience supervising junior staff

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine (primary series, boosters and/or XBB)
  • OR
  • One dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
