Research Assistant II, Lawson - 2 positions

The research assistant will be working under the supervision of Dr. Manuel Montero-Odasso, Director of the Gait & Brain Laboratory, and Research Coordinators, within a multi-disciplinary research team at Parkwood Institute on interventional research studies related to mobility and cognition in older adults. The successful incumbent will be joining a recently funded national interventional virtual trial to improve mobility and cognition in older adults. With training, their main duties will be conducting remote cognitive and mobility assessments, and coaching older adult participants in better improving five lifestyle domains: exercise, cognitive training, diet, sleep, and vascular risk factors. The successful incumbent will work under the supervision of the Study Research Coordinator (RC), and will also conduct day-to-day operations of the research study such as recruitment, preparing packages for the mailing of study materials, and other duties as required. This post is for two full-time in-person position; 5 days (37.5 hours) per week, for a one-year contract with a high likelihood of renewal.



Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in health-related field
  • Experience working in clinical trials
  • Proficiency in computer applications and software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to supervise and manage junior research team members.
  • Proven flexibility with a high level of initiative and self-direction
  • Comfortable with technology such as Zoom and online platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Personal Trainer or Clinical Exercise Physiologists
  • Graduate Degree in basic or health sciences
  • Certification in effective coaching
