The Speech-Language Pathologist will play an integral role as a member of the interdisciplinary team in the inpatient and outpatient settings of the Specialized Geriatric Services program. This dynamic program specializes in the assessment, intervention and management of adults throughout Southwestern Ontario with musculoskeletal impairments, and/or functional decline, and frailty.

Using the principles of person centered care the successful applicant will be responsible for providing speech language pathology services to patients, with a focus on swallowing disorders as well as, attaining optimal communication abilities (including voice disorders, dysarthria, aphasia, primary progressive aphasia, cognitive communication disorders of various etiologies). Populations include (but are not exclusive to) patients experiencing a variety of musculoskeletal impairments, Dementia (including Frontal Temporal), Frailty, Parkinson's Disease, Motor Neuron Diseases and previous impacts of Strokes The successful candidate will also provide patients and care partners with specific consultation, education and management strategies.



Essential Qualifications

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Speech Language Pathology
  • Current member in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Clinical expertise and experience in a Geriatric care setting
  • Experience in both clinical and videofluoroscopic assessment of swallowing
  • Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an interdisciplinary collaborative environment
  • Working knowledge and experience with Adult learning theories and principles for patient and Care Partner self- management/management approaches
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving and innovation skills
  • Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative
Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset.
  • Experience and competency with assistive technology including voice amplifiers, IPAD Communication tools and other AAC devices

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series, boosters and/or XBB) OR one dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
