Lawson Health Research Institute is one of Canada’s largest hospital-based research institutes. As the research institute of St. Joseph’s Health Care, London and London Health Sciences Centre, and working in partnership with Western University, Lawson is committed to furthering scientific knowledge to advance health care around the world.

The successful candidate will work with the Lawson Imaging Research Program under the direction of Drs. Lee and Prato in the role of “Research Associate” to support imaging research. Initially the area will focus on imaging in cardiovascular disease and cancer but may expand to areas of neurology and others. Although all the imaging will be done at St. Joseph’s Hospital, the recruitment of research participants may require some time spent at LHSC sites. This position is a 5 day per week, (37.5 hours per week).

Responsibilities of this position will include:
- Use of clinical assessment skills to determine suitability of patients for inclusion in research studies and approaching them for enrollment
- Administration of medication both orally and intravenously
- Venipuncture and IV initiation
- ECG acquisition
- Monitoring for adverse events
- Participation with multidisciplinary teams
- Patient and family teaching
- Providing clinical staff education
- Interpretation of lab results
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned



Essential Qualifications

  • Consent to working with Computed Tomography, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) technology
  • Diploma or Bachelors in a regulated health profession
  • Basic Cardiac Life support, ACLS an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as an effective team member
  • Demonstrated time management, attention to detail, and prioritization skills
  • Committed to ongoing learning
  • Good judgment, initiative, tact and professional attitude in the workplace
  • Adaptable, flexible and resourceful
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Communication skills with a proven ability to interpret information and provide and/or follow complex instructions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Phlebotomy experience, setting up IV’s and IV injections
  • Experience with patients with cardiac disease and/or cancer
  • Clinical research experience
  • Successful completion of or working towards a Clinical Research Professional Certification (SOCRA, ACRP) or Diploma in Clinical trials management is an asset
  • Familiarity with LHRI and Western REB policies is an asset
  • Demonstrated computer skills particularly with Word, Excel and PowerPoint or program knowledge required
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any
  • future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid
  • management in the workplace
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
