Corporate Business Consultant, Finance - 1 position

An opportunity exists for a highly motivated team player to join St. Joseph's finance department. As the Corporate Business Consultant, within the Accounting, Reporting and Budgeting finance portfolio, you will be part of a collaborative team which focuses on providing business and information support to the many facets of our diverse organization.

As a Corporate Business Consultant with the Finance department, key responsibilities of your role will include:

  • Execute and coordinate monthly and yearly accounting close procedures such as; monthly/yearly journal entries, account reconciliations, project financial analysis, financial statement preparation and analytical review
  • Preparation of all internal and external reporting for St. Joseph's in accordance with Hospital policies, Public Sector Accounting Standards and Ontario Hospital Reporting Standards
  • Provide thoughtful and detailed variance analysis against prior year, budget, and forecast, identify root causes and communicate financial information in a timely, reliable, and consistent manner
  • Leading, planning and coordinating the year end external audit process and other audits as needed;
  • Supporting the full cycle budgeting processes
  • Provide guidance to other departments on accounting policies and Ontario Health Care Reporting Standards

The successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of accounting principles and experience with public sector accounting standards. Excellent organizational, presentation, problem solving and leadership skills are essential. Our dynamic environment requires your proven computer experience, particularly with excel and other database systems with the ability to abstract, manipulate and analyze information from our existing general ledger and sub-systems. Your keen interest will afford you the opportunity to learn and contribute to a broad spectrum of accounting and finance functions and issues at St. Joseph's.

Essential Qualifications
  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Designation
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's degree in a business-related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
  • A sound knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, including Public Sector Accounting Standards.
  • Experience with month and year-end accounting close procedures and reconciliations
  • Successful completion of Intro MIS & MIS1 level certifications are required within two years of acceptance of this position
  • Demonstrated intermediate computer experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experience with financial reporting software applications
  • Expertise in manipulation of data and file transfers
  • Self-directed individual with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with specific attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong customer service focus and an ability to work independently as well as in a team setting

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading, planning and coordinating an organization's external audit.
  • Experience in a health care environment
  • Proficiency in Oracle eBusiness financial reporting software
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid management in the workplace.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
