** Term position, anticipated to extend from August 30, 2022 to December 10, 2022, subject to the availability of work.

(This opportunity is only open to current employees of St. Joseph's)

NOTE: Leader approval must be acquired to take on this secondment. Employees currently holding bargaining unit positions will continue to hold their position over the duration of this secondment. The hourly rate of pay for the successful candidate will remain the same during this secondment.

Program Description:
The Sponsored Employee Program is a full-time seconded position that presents a unique professional development opportunity to work with the United Way team to support the annual campaign that includes St. Joseph's Health Care Foundation. The sponsored employee will provide dedicated support by planning, implementing and monitoring fundraising activities that will help to create long-lasting change in our community.

Key responsibilities:

  • be Ambassadors for UWEM at workplaces and in the community
  • provide support to volunteers in planning, execution and wrap up of employee workplace campaigns
  • promote United Way message through social media; request support to the campaign to employee groups through speeches and presentations
  • develop relationships with and provide excellent customer service to volunteers
  • provide workplaces with materials and arrange for speakers as required
  • assist with delivery of training sessions to volunteers as required
  • assist with donor follow up with regards to renewing their gifts
  • monitor and report campaign progress, along with follow up to donors regarding their outstanding gift
  • identify campaign problem areas and develop solutions with direction from United Way staff
  • provide assistance at United Way special events
  • ensure that all volunteers receive appropriate recognition
  • prepare reports as required and enter into database

Accountability and Support
  • Position secondment is from August 30, 2022 to December 10, 2022 inclusive (must be able to start and stay the full period of time)
  • The Sponsored Employee program is a a hybrid of virtual and in person activities based on public health guidelines
  • Access to a computer (with camera and microphone) and cell phone (personal or work-issued); in addition to reliable internet is required
  • Sponsoring organizations continue to pay their employees' salaries during the secondment
  • Access to transportation may be required for in-person opportunities
  • Special events will require working time outside of the regular 8:30-4:30pm hours including some shift work and some light lifting
  • Due to the nature of this assignment, we ask that Sponsored Employees not schedule vacations during this time
  • Employees are engaged full time in this assignment and not available to work at their regular workplace
  • Sponsored Employees receive ongoing coaching throughout the program beginning with over 60 hours of initial training and skills development from specialists in fundraising, communications and community development
