The role of the Central Processing Technician is to process, prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment and supplies for use in the OR and Patient Care Units. To ensure consistent quality patient care, the successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to process a significant volume (10-15 complex sets; 20-25 non complex sets and 30-40 extras per shift) of complex sets of instruments and assembled trays with consistent accuracy and attention to detail. The training required will be dependent on the successful applicant's experience. The position requires prolonged periods of standing, lifting (10kg), bending, pulling and pushing.
- Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
- Sterile Processing Certificate or Medical Device Reprocessing Certificate from an approved accredited community college
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent as recognized by the Province of Ontario
- Demonstrated oral, written and reading comprehension and communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to work independently
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, assertiveness and positive interpersonal skills
Teaching and Research
- Proficiency in French would be an asset
- 2 years Central Processing experience and/or equivalent in a health care environment
- Knowledge of Surgical Instrumentation and Medical terminology
- Knowledge related to the Basic Principles of Infection Control including Universal Precautions and Aseptic techniques

- Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid management in the workplace.
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
- Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
