HMMS is a joint venture between St. Joseph's Health Care London and London Health Sciences Centre, that has been operating since 1997 providing consolidated functions of Sourcing, Contract Management, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, Logistics, Supply Chain Systems and Inventory Management for the London Hospitals and numerous healthcare organizations throughout Southwestern Ontario.

Reporting to the Manager of Supply Chain Technology, the System Specialist (Business Intelligence Developer) is expected to understand the detailed business intelligence technology requirements for HMMS, and their customers to ensure technology is available. This ensures HMMS processes have the data and business intelligence insights needed for daily operational and strategic decision making.

The System Specialist (Business Intelligence Developer) will work primarily in SSIS, MSSQL and reporting technologies such as PowerBI and the ERP BI Tool. They will develop and support data warehousing, reporting and strategic reporting technologies to improve both internal and external data availability and knowledge. They will lead project tasks associated with the implementation, testing, training and support of the business intelligence tools in HMMS Technology. The role must balance a multiple of independent and interrelated project tasks and production support at one time.

In addition, the role is expected to participate in ITS standardization initiatives, and participate in strategic and operational business projects related to the technology requirements for all aspects of HMMS Supply Chain. Experience in logistics and supply chain systems will be considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Planning and designing for the development and enhancement of business intelligence tools and technologies
  • Designing and improving existing warehouse systems and data gathering processes to increase overall performance and user productivity
  • Gathering and processing data from various sources using database and BI tools to create datasets, data models and interactive dashboards
  • Assesses learning needs of end user, develops detailed training materials and conducts training sessions to prepare users for transition to any project implementation
  • Facilitates meetings using appropriate techniques and reports to leadership on a regular basis
  • Reviews existing processes related to business intelligence technology and makes recommendations to HMMS Leadership regarding opportunities for process improvements

Essential Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Computer Science or other comparable education in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 3 - 5 years demonstrated experience in Business Intelligence
  • Extensive Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server (2014 or 2016): T-SQL Stored Procedures and SQL Server Agent Jobs
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex queries on relational databases, stored procedures, and automation tools, and working with and transforming large datasets
  • Extensive experience in database concepts, data modeling, data integration including design and architecture
  • Experience developing dashboards and reports in Power BI Platform. Candidate should have experience using Dataflows, Power Query for data transformations, and be able to create and maintain complex DAX measures and calculations
  • Experience designing, developing, updating, and optimizing Power BI dashboards, reports, and scorecards to meet business requirements, including creating database tables and custom fields to support BI and reporting needs required
  • Extensive experience working with Microsoft SSIS technologies & SSRS
  • Advanced understanding of SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing concepts
  • Ability to apply outside-the-box thinking to common problems
  • Demonstrates initiative and ownership

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in French would be an asset

Immunization Requirements
  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid management in the workplace
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
